CONCERTINA WIRE (COILS)

Concertina wire is supplied typically in single coils or crossed spiral coils. We can produce razor type barbed wire in concertina coils or straight lines. Blade types and specifications vary according to the customers’ requirements.
Concertina wire (coil) is made by stainless steel sheets and galvanized high tensile claps. It has a beautiful crossing outlook and it is suitable for uses after extending, making an ideal security fencing with great anti-climb and anti-cutting property.

Standard materials for razor type barbed wire are either galvanized or stainless steel.

Main Application: Concertina wire (coil) is used as security fencing and isolation for gardens, residences, military sites and other sites requiring high security.

Concertina Wire is also written as Constantina Wire, or concertina wire looped coils. It is mainly made of hot dipped galvanized steel razor wire coils with smooth inner roll, stainless steel razor wire is also provided.

Surface treatments for razor wire concertina include hot dipped galvanized, plastic coated and plain stainless steel.

Five Types of Concertina Wire (Constantina Wire):

Single Coil Razor Wire Concertina: Hot dipped galvanized steel plate and strip processed razor wire coils. Extended in spiral type to form a temporary obstacle. No clips required for this type.

Large Coils Crossed Concertina Wire: Crossed spirals of razor wire clipped together to make better security fencing than the single coils razor tape lines.

Y Post Supported Concertina Wire Fences: Concertina wire mounted on top of Y fence post to make an obstacles barriers.

Electrified Concertina Wire: Also called electrified safety fence: Used with electric power to achieve an enhanced level of security. No apparent difference from outlook. A copper wire is placed within the core wire of the razor blade. At the same time the concertina wire frightens and stops the intruders, it will also give alarms when there is theft, cutting or breaking of the razor wire. Suitable for plants, construction sites, airports and other places.

Razor Wire Mobile Obstacle Barriers / Military Use Concertina Wire:
Concertina wire or crossed razor wire has two features suitable for military uses. First, it is quick and easy for installation as mobile security barriers. Speed and time is very important in wars or military uses. Only three men are needed to be set up and retrieval of the razor wire obstacles, fences, a saving of human resources.

Second, the razor wire barrier does not rely on any mechanical power, electricity, battery, motor, or engines. It forms effective barrier to prevent possible mechanical problems caused by mechanical failure, battery shortage, the electrical failure, or engine failure.

Order or Specify Concertina Wire by Three Parts: Coil diameter, loop numbers and blade types

2, Loop / coils of concertina razor wire are mostly 56 circles per unit. The coils numbers can be custom made according to security area length.

Two Ways of Installation for Razor Wire Concertina:

Concertina wire is a security fence with maximum safety when installed in proper method. The right installation shall not conduct harm to the installers. We introduce two installation methods for razor wire fencing barriers: one is fixed with the angle steel, another is supported with the Y post.

Installation Method One:

1. Fixed by the angle steel. Choose the angle steel height according to the coil diameter of the concertina. One angel steel per 3 meter distance. Inserted into the fencing wall directly.
2. Then fix the angle steel. Then install the razor barbed wire. 3 or 4 lines of steel wire placed. Then fixed with clips.
3. 3 to 7 clips for every two loops of razor wire. Extended into spiral shapes. Protective gloves are required when handling.
4. Fix one side of the razor wire extended. Then open it in the opposite direction. The distance of the opening shall not be too large, the openings shall be uniform and natural.
5. If the fences need to be collected, just loosen it in the starting direction. Simple and easy operation.

Installation Way Two / Installation of Y Support Post Fencing

1. Calculate the Y shape support post numbers needed according to the fencing length. One post per 3 to 5 meter spacing. Then fix the Y fence post to the fencing wall.

2. Punched holes of the Y post are designed according to customers requirements. The holes play a fixing role for installation of the concertina barbed wire.
3. One piece of steel wire is pulled along each side of the concertina wire through the Y support post. For fixing of the barbed razor wire. To avoid the waving of the concertina coils to the left or right side.

Order the Right Quantity or Calculate the Covering Length of Razor Wire Fencing

Two formula to calculate the fencing length of the razor concertina loops:

One: Calculating of Single Coil Concertina:

Calculated according to 30cm spacing as specified, if no requirements from customers:
Coil Weight / Unit Meter Weight / 3.14 / Coil Diameter * 0.3 meter = fencing length
Case study: For Concertina Wire BTO-22 Blade of 0.4mm thickness sheet, 2.2 wire diameter, 500mm coil diameter, gross weight 10kg, with reduced 0.3kg packing, the net weight is 9.7 kg.

Its covering length: 9700 gram/67.55 gram/3.14/0.5* 0.3m = 27.4 meter

Two: Calculating of Crossed Spiral Concertina Wire:

Case study: Take an example of BTO-22 Blade Type Razor Wire, steel sheet thickness 0.4mm, wire diameter 2.2mm, coil diameter 500mm, 3 clips, 10 kg weight, without packing and clip weight, the weight is net 9.448kg. The covering length will be: 9448 gram / 67.55 gram/3.14/0.5/2*0.3meter = 13.36 meter

Why Choose Concertina Razor Wire Instead of Common Mesh Fences? Or, Why add razor wire on top of metal fencing panels?

Compared with traditional mesh fences like welded mesh fence, chain link fence and hexagonal mesh fence, the concertina razor wire fence offers high security at the same time it has the features of anti-climbing and sharp blade. More frightening. So, the metal mesh fences are used in common preventing and perimeter fencing, while the razor wire fences are used in prisons, even military uses with high grade of security and safety requirements.
